Since its inception in 1983 the Youth Choir has achieved an unparalleled level of excellence in its performance achievements. The Choir's commitment to the time honoured traditions of choral repertoire has ensured that it has brought acclaim to young Australia's both nationally and internationally. Seventeen highly successful international concert tours are testimony that the choir is one of Australia's most travelled vocal ensembles.
Inspiring recitals have been given in the world's finest Cathedrals and Concert Halls, the Duomo Florence, St. Mark's Venice, Notre Dame Cathedral Paris, St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey London, St. Patrick's Cathedral New York and the Rathaus, Augarten Palace and Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna. In 1990 the Choir was the first Australian children's choir to perform at the distinguished Franz List Academy in Budapest.

The Choir presented, and appeared with the world renowned Vienna Boy's Choir throughout their 1994 Australian tour, and welcomed them again this year when they toured Australia and New Zealand to celebrate their 500 year Anniversary. The Australian Youth Choir has been associated with many internationally recognised ensembles, having shared the concert platform with the Royal Ballet, Convent Garden as part of Australia's Bi-Centennial celebrations, the Philidelphia Boy's Choir and Chorale, the New York Youth Orchestra, the Newark Boy's Chorus and many other internationally recognised artists.
It has also performed at opening ceremonies for the Australian Football League, the National Basketball League, the National Rugby League, the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, the 1998 and 1999 Ashes Series and the Davis Cup Challenge in Washington, together with many national television, radio and recording commitments. The Choir has performed with many of Australia's most distinguished artists including Judith Durhan and The Seekers, Debra Byrne, Julie Anthony and Joan Carden. They have performed on four CD's of their own and with John Farnham on Australia's highest selling compact disc, The Age of Reason. In addition, the Choir has performed at Australia's foremost Christmas special "Carols by Candlelight".
