Peter has been described by Sydney Morning Herald music writer John Shand as “one of Melbourne’s shining lights.” A superb trumpeter and vocalist, he has developed a strong reputation in Australia and beyond in the past fifteen years as a professional musician. Early in the evening while guests are arriving, perhaps the perfect atmosphere is created by an acoustic duo: accordion and muted trumpet. Then later, during dinner a delectable selection of classy smooth jazz vocal numbers before a funky dance bracket to round out the night. And all of this with only four musicians!
This combination, and many others, are possible drawing from Peter’s talented pool of musicians all of whom are highly professional and widely acclaimed including: vocalists Julie O’Hara and Alison Wedding, the wonderful Lucas Michailidis on acoustic and jazz guitar, Frank Di Sario on acoustic double bass, the master drummer Dave Beck, pianist and accordionist, Anthony Shultz, Adam Simmons on saxophone to name just some of the amazing array of talented players with whom Peter regularly performs.
Peter is well known for his ability to move between genres. He leads numerous groups from a classic smooth jazz trio, to a rip roaring funky five piece that gets everyone up dancing. He is a member of the much-loved Skazz that blends ska and reggae dance grooves with latin and jazz influences, and has a traditional swing combo with Melbourne’s number one swing diva, Julie O’Hara. Best of all, Peter can combine these groups over the course of a night to create a moveable feast of music for your function or wedding.
